Oktoberfest, Fraulein?

Oktoberfest is another tradition for Team United, as we headed downtown to pour beer at the annual gathering on Sept 27, 2014. This street festival comes complete with traditional costumes, live polka bands, bratwurst, and of course, beer! Working the beer tent, Team United has a front row seat for the festivities and this has been another favorite event for the team. The relaxed atmosphere gives us an opportunity to have some fun off the track together and has become a great team bonding event.

2014 Beaverdale Fall Fest & The Big Yellow Bike

Team United rode The Big Yellow Bike through the Beaverdale Fall Fest Parade on September 20 to help promote Oktoberfest the following weekend. We worked on our teamwork in a different fashion, as 16 riders pedaled together to power the bike. We tossed candy and flyers to the crowd, all while enjoying some festive polka music!

Team United Takes on Warrior Dash

On Aug. 16, 2014 Team United volunteered for the second time at the Warrior Dash just outside Des Moines in Earlham, IA. This has become a favorite event for our ladies, as we spend the day meeting other athletes and getting some much-needed “off the track” time with our teammates. We split into small groups to man the registration packet tent, the food tent, the beer tent, and a few of the water tables and obstacles. At the end of a long day, a few of the ladies had the opportunity to run the course again this year, and challenged themselves through 12 extremely muddy obstacles, ending with Goliath, a giant structure with a waterslide into the final mud pit.
